Mobiles Phones at 3GSM

February 25th, 2005

While our first Podcast from 3GSM sits in post production (it sounds more impressive than it really is…), Rafe has done a round of some of the newer smartphones that were announced at 3GSM. You can find his thoughts over on All About Symbian, where he’s been talking about the Panasonic X800, the Samsung D720 and Nokia’s 6680.

Rafe and I will be discussing these phones, along with the Motorola A1010 (3G) and Sendo X2 (MP3 Music Phone) in Show #03. Show #2, due out very very soon will see us chatting about the new Operating Systems and User Interfaces annoucned in Cannes.

A quick note from 3GSM

February 17th, 2005

Hey folks, well the Mobiles Podcast is being well recieved (thanks) but there’s not time for Rafe Blandford and I to catch our breath, becasue we’re in the thick of the action at 3GSM grabbing some pretty damn good interviews for the next ‘cast.

Highlights include time with management and veeps of Palmsource, Motorola, Nokia, Sendo, Symbian, Gizmondo, Quickoffice and a whole host of interesting people who’ve things to say in the mobile space.

If the Wi-Fi in the media centre holds out, we’ll have a 20 minutes chat with Sun on Java in the next few days as a bit of a teaser for you all. Watch out for it!

Update: Nope the FTP upload speed was slower than the French Cafe’s. Looks like a full blown Show #2 early next week and the Sun interview maybe as a bonus on Friday!

Welcome to The Mobiles Show’s first podcast

February 14th, 2005

Welcome to what is effectively the pilot episode of The Mobiles Show Podcast on The Podcast Network. Our first show has not had a smooth birth, what with our contributors being all round the world, some of them with only a 56K landline (which rules out any decent Skype connection), some of them never available, and others having to rely on their answering machine to get the content to us.

But that’s not stopped us! It does mean that what we have here is probably the first Podcast that has been out together entirely on a Nokia Communicator smartphone. From the initial notes and outlines, to scheduling interviews via email, to finally calling up everyone and recording the call on the device to add to the show.

And it’s that sort of flexibility and power that The Mobiles Show is going to talk about, explore and educate you. Plus we’re going to have a lot of fun along the way as well. We’ve gathered a huge amount of talent, from the editorial team behind All About Symbian - one of the largest community news and reviews site on the internet, to well respected names in the mobile/PDA world in David Keppler and Steve Litchfield.

Next time, we might use Skype…
